Alex MacQueen

Alex MacQueen is the sort of character actor I treasure: never the lead, always essential. A Durham graduate from Epsom, he has popped up across the spine of modern British comedy, from The Thick of It and Peep Show to The Inbetweeners, plus turns in Doctor Who and Fate: The Winx Saga. There is real range in moving between sharp satire and broad comedy, and his presence tends to give a scene an extra edge of menace or absurdity. I find these reliable supporting players quietly heroic; they are the connective tissue that makes whole shows work.
