My Take
Emmanuel Macron's range is what gets me. A philosophy student from Amiens who became an investment banker and then, from 2017, President of France. That arc, from Hegel to finance to the Élysée, is not a normal résumé. Whatever you think of his politics, and people think plenty, the nerve it took to seize that office so young is real. What interests me most is that he governs like someone who still wants to argue the idea, to reason the world into shape. Leaders that divisive are always the most intriguing to revisit later, because history tends to render a harsher, fairer verdict than the present.
