My Take

Ever Palacios has a special place in my book because of his Japanese chapter. A Cali-born defender who made his name with Deportivo Cali and Atlético Nacional, he also gave seasons to Shonan Bellmare and Kashiwa Reysol during the J-League's formative years. There's something I find quietly admirable about a foreign import who adapts to an unfamiliar football culture and leaves a mark, then turns to coaching to pass that hard-won knowledge along. Players like him helped shape Japanese football at a pivotal moment, and I think those contributions deserve to be remembered rather than left to fade into footnotes.
