Jason Bonham

Carrying the surname Bonham is both a gift and a life sentence, and what moves me about Jason is that he never hid from it. Losing his father at fourteen could have ended any thought of drumming, yet he climbed onto the throne anyway and, at the 2007 O2 reunion, made Led Zeppelin breathe again. I don't read that night as imitation; I read it as a son turning grief into rhythm. From working-class Dudley he inherited a beat in his blood and made it his own. To me he embodies the idea that inheriting a legacy means shouldering it, not merely echoing it.
