Jean-Victor Makengo

I have a soft spot for players like Jean-Victor Makengo. A midfielder from Etampes near Paris, grinding it out in Ligue 1 for Lorient, he is the sort of footballer who rarely makes highlight reels but quietly holds a team together. Being born in 1998, the very year France won the World Cup, feels almost poetic to me. At 177 cm he is no physical giant, so his value lives in positioning, work rate, and reading the game. I genuinely respect that unglamorous craft. He may never be a household name, but the engine room is where matches are truly won, and that earns my admiration.
