Julian Barratt

Julian Barratt is, for me, one of comedy's most underrated craftsmen. The Mighty Boosh era with Noel Fielding gave us surreal, pitch-black humour that few performers could pull off, yet Barratt also composes music, writes, and carries dramatic weight on stage and screen. That range is rare. What I admire most is the melancholy threaded through his absurdity; his comedy is funny but never empty. A Leeds lad who started doing stand-up at the University of Reading, he built a strange, singular voice that rewards patient viewers. I genuinely treasure performers this committed to their own weirdness.
