Lauren Socha

Lauren Socha made an immediate impression on me as a performer who brings raw, unvarnished truth to the screen. Her BAFTA-winning turn as Kelly in Misfits captured a toughness that felt completely lived-in, accent and all, rather than studied. I appreciate actors who refuse to sand off their edges for palatability, and Socha is firmly in that camp. There is a fearlessness in how fully she inhabits unglamorous, prickly characters. Born in 1990, she still has plenty of road ahead, and I genuinely look forward to seeing where a talent this honest and grounded goes next.
