My Take

Marko Rehmer, the Berlin-born German right-back from 1972, is the sort of footballer I have a soft spot for. Full-backs do the unglamorous work, sprinting up and down the flank, defending hard and supplying the attack, and the ones who last at the top level are quietly indispensable.
