Tristán Ulloa

Tristán Ulloa intrigues me precisely because of the contradiction in his bio: born in Orléans, France, yet thoroughly a Spanish actor. That cross-border identity gives his work a certain texture I enjoy. What really earns my respect, though, is that he doesn't just act. He directs and writes too, which means he understands a story from both in front of and behind the camera. Performers who see the whole machine tend to bring extra depth to their own scenes. He's not chasing Hollywood; he's a craftsman serving Spanish-language cinema with patience. Discovering and championing actors like him is one of my quiet pleasures.
