My Take
Pepperdine is exactly the kind of British performer I admire most: a craftsperson who both writes and acts, and does both with real bite. Her work co-writing Getting On earned two BAFTA nominations, and her turn as Pippa Moore drew a British Comedy Award nod, a rare double that few comic talents manage. Performers who understand comedy from the page as well as the stage bring a depth and timing that pure actors often lack. She represents the unflashy, intelligent end of British comedy that rarely gets the spotlight it deserves, and I suspect her best, most weathered roles are still ahead.
