Andrew Tiernan

Andrew Tiernan is one of those British character actors whose face you recognize long before you place the name. Raised in Ladywood, Birmingham, and trained at London's Drama Centre, he's worked as an actor and director across film and stage, which tells me he's curious about the whole craft, not just hitting his marks. He is best remembered as Ephialtes in 300 and its sequel, the kind of dependable journeyman who shows up, delivers something memorable, and lets the leads take the credit. I tend to value performers like this, because a film or play only holds together when the people in the smaller roles take them seriously.
