My Take
Choudary is a figure I record without any warmth. A London-born solicitor educated at Southampton, he had the training and platform to do real good, yet he became the best-known face of militant Islamism in Britain and was handed a life sentence in 2024 for directing a terror organisation. What unsettles me most is the waste: legal knowledge and rhetorical skill turned toward radicalisation rather than service. His story is a sobering reminder that talent is morally neutral, and that how a gifted mind chooses to use itself can shape, or scar, a society.
