Anri Okita

What strikes me about Anri Okita is her sheer willingness to reinvent. Born in Birmingham, England, she became a popular AV idol in Japan, then walked away to pursue mainstream media, joined the Ebisu Muscats, and finally emerged as a solo musician with the album GORILLA. I am less interested in any single chapter than in the nerve it takes to keep shedding one identity for the next. Turning a multicultural background into an asset rather than a footnote takes real grit. I respect performers who treat their own story as something they get to rewrite.
