My Take
Barbara Pravi won me over the moment I heard her voice. Born in 1993 in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, she represented France at Eurovision 2021 with "Voilà" and finished second, France's best result since 1991. As a singer-songwriter who writes her own words and melodies, she has, to my ears, revived the French chanson tradition for a modern audience. Even her debut album title, On n'enferme pas les oiseaux, carries a poetic defiance I love. She balances raw passion with real delicacy, and I get the sense her best work is still ahead. I am rooting for her wholeheartedly.
