Cara Seymour

Cara Seymour is the kind of actor I find myself trusting on sight. She rarely takes the lead, yet her appearances in American Psycho, Dancer in the Dark, Gangs of New York and The Knick all carry a quiet, unsettling precision that only a stage-trained performer seems to summon. What strikes me is how she elevates a scene without ever demanding it be about her. That restraint is harder than showboating, and far rarer. I have a real soft spot for character actors who anchor a film from the margins, and Seymour, born in Essex in 1964, is exactly that sort of steady, indispensable presence I keep rooting for.
