Chan Ho Park

Chan Ho Park earns my lasting respect as a genuine pioneer. Born in 1973 in Gongju, he became the first South Korean-born player in Major League Baseball and the first to be named an All-Star, opening a door that countless players would later walk through. Being a trailblazer is a lonely undertaking, building a bridge for others while navigating a foreign country and culture alone. That kind of resolve, standing on the mound far from home with no roadmap, demands enormous courage. I'm drawn to figures who take the difficult first step so others can follow, and Park's place in that history is secure.
