Colin Blunstone

Colin Blunstone owns one of the most quietly affecting voices in British pop. As the lead singer of the Zombies, he gave "She's Not There" and "Time of the Season" that breathy, melancholy tenderness that still stops me in my tracks. A career spanning more than sixty years says everything about staying power, but what I admire is the restraint: he never shouts when a whisper will move you more. Songs age and fade, yet his keep finding new listeners, and that, to me, is the surest sign of a voice that never lied to its audience.
