Craig Fairbrass

Craig Fairbrass is the kind of actor I always root for: a hard-edged East Londoner who built a real career on presence rather than prizes. Hollywood used him in Cliffhanger and The Bank Job, but his soul is in the Rise of the Footsoldier films, where that gravelly voice and granite face land with genuine menace. What I admire is the craftsmanship behind the toughness, the fact that he also writes and produces. He is proof that a film tightens up the moment a true character actor walks on. I find his lack of glamour part of the appeal.
