David Platt

What draws me to David Platt is the arc of a player who started as a Manchester United apprentice, was let go, and rebuilt himself at Crewe Alexandra into a goal-scoring midfielder worth taking seriously. That kind of quiet reinvention impresses me more than raw talent ever does. Born in 1966 in Chadderton, he later spread himself across coaching, journalism, and commentary, which tells me he genuinely loves the game beyond playing it. I respect figures who stay close to their craft after the cheering stops. Platt strikes me as the dependable professional whose value you only fully appreciate in hindsight.
