Domagoj Vida is exactly the kind of defender I appreciate more the longer I watch football: durable, versatile, and rarely the headline. A Croatian center-back who can slot into any spot across the back line, he was part of that golden generation that overachieved on the world stage. What I like is how a kid from Osijek turned into a reliable international and kept his career going abroad, eventually at AEK Athens in Greece.
