Emily Perkins

What I admire about Emily Perkins is her quiet durability. She started as a child actor, played young Beverly in It, and then became a genre icon as Brigitte in Ginger Snaps, yet she never chased tabloid fame. There is a haunted intelligence behind her eyes that feels rare, and I suspect her time at the University of British Columbia fed it. Choosing to build a career rooted in Vancouver rather than the Hollywood machine reads, to me, like real self-possession. She is the kind of performer who works because the work matters, and that earns my respect.
