Farhan Akhtar

Farhan Akhtar is, to me, one of the most quietly important architects of modern Bollywood. Son of screenwriters Javed Akhtar and Honey Irani, he could have leaned on that lineage, but his 2001 directorial debut Dil Chahta Hai instead became a genuine cult classic that shifted how Hindi cinema spoke to young audiences. What impresses me is the breadth: actor, director, producer, writer, and singer, all of it backed by the entrepreneurial nerve to co-found Excel Entertainment and build his own machine.
