Goldie

What I admire about Goldie is that he never asked permission to belong anywhere. He started by spraying his name on walls in Walsall, then rewrote the sonic landscape of 1990s jungle and drum and bass, and somehow ended up an MBE and a film actor too. To me he embodies the idea that graffiti and breakbeats spring from the same impulse: an outsider insisting on being seen and heard. He treats genre boundaries as suggestions rather than rules, and that restless refusal to stay in one lane is exactly why his legacy still feels alive and dangerous.
