Hatem Trabelsi

Hatem Trabelsi is a footballer I have a lot of time for, because in the early 2000s he was arguably the finest right-back to come out of Africa. He's Tunisian, born in Ariana in 1977. His years at Ajax were his peak, where his pace and overlapping runs made him a standout, and a later spell at Manchester City brought him to the Premier League. Representing Tunisia at three World Cups and earning 66 caps is a remarkable international career. I rate him as a genuine pioneer who helped open European doors for North African talent.
