Ian Rush

Ian Rush belongs in the conversation about the greatest strikers ever, and Liverpool's all-time scoring record of 346 goals is the kind of figure that stops you cold. What I appreciate most is that he was not a flashy forward but a predator of instinct, a man who simply knew where the ball would fall. That gift was innate, yet sharpened by years of unglamorous work. Inducted into the English Football Hall of Fame and made an MBE, he carries it without arrogance. Now a Liverpool ambassador, he passes on the pure joy of scoring, and I will always have a soft spot for a true finisher.
