Joseph Mawle

Joseph Mawle is one of those actors I treasure for his range and restraint. I will always picture him first as Benjen Stark, brooding and haunted, but his work spans the sacred and the sinister, from playing Jesus in The Passion to the menacing Adar in The Rings of Power. Born in Oxford and trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, he brings a dense, theatrical core to everything he touches. He is rarely the flashy lead, yet he casts long shadows across the stories he joins. To me, that ability to quietly deepen a production is the mark of a truly serious craftsman.
