My Take

I came to Hyoseong through Secret, but what stuck with me is how she clawed her way up from being a Battle Shinhwa finalist in 2005 before the group ever existed. That long, unglamorous trainee road shows in how she carries herself. When Secret faded, she pivoted into solo work and acting instead of disappearing, which I respect more than another reunion. Her voice always had a sultry, lower register that set Secret apart from the candy-pop crowd of that era. I wish she got more credit as a soloist; she felt boxed in by the group's image far longer than she deserved.
