Kwon Young-guk

What grips me about Kwon Young-guk is the sheer reach of his trajectory. He moved from a technical high school in Pohang to engineering, then to law, and finally became the Democratic Labor Party's presidential nominee in 2025, a path that almost no one walks. To me that signals someone who kept choosing harder, more principled roads when easier ones were available. Born on Liberation Day in 1963, he feels woven into Korea's modern struggles. I respect figures who trade comfortable advancement for the cause of workers and the underdog, and his story reads like exactly that kind of stubborn integrity.
