My Take
I'll be honest — I came to Little Simz late, and catching up felt like finding a whole library I'd somehow walked past. This North London rapper from Islington has been quietly stacking one of the most consistent indie catalogs in British hip-hop, putting out album after album on her own terms before the mainstream decided to pay attention. Grey Area in 2019 was the moment a lot of people woke up, and then Sometimes I Might Be Introvert in 2021 just obliterated any remaining doubts — Mercury Prize, BRIT Award for Best New Artist, the whole thing. What gets me is the range: she's lyrically precise without being cold, she's got bars and melody, and she carries herself with this quiet authority that most artists spend decades chasing. Her work on Top Boy proved she's not just a musician coasting on a side gig either. She's genuinely building something singular.
