My Take

Max Mosley is one of the more complicated figures I find genuinely compelling. He went from amateur racer to co-founding March Engineering to running the FIA, a trajectory that demanded both legal sharpness and motorsport instinct. I credit him enormously for pushing the safety reforms that almost certainly saved drivers' lives. He was also a man of public controversy, and I don't think you can separate the achievement from the messiness. That complexity is exactly why he interests me more than a tidy sporting hero would. When he died in 2021, modern Formula One still bore his fingerprints, and I suspect it always will.
