Mia Kirshner

Mia Kirshner is one of those rare actors who carries both intellect and shadow on screen. Her Jenny Schecter on The L Word was fragile, infuriating and mesmerizing all at once, a tricky tightrope she walked beautifully, and her range from 24 to Star Trek's Amanda Grayson is genuinely wide. A McGill graduate, she is also a writer and humanitarian deeply engaged with refugee issues, which tells me she is watching the world far beyond the set. I respect performers who keep speaking out off camera, and Kirshner has quietly done exactly that for years.
