My Take

Min Do-hee made one of the toughest transitions in entertainment look natural: idol to respected actress. She started as a lead vocalist of the girl group Tiny-G, then broke through acting in Reply 1994, and when the group went on hiatus she committed fully to the screen. I always pull for that kind of reinvention, because idol alumni get unfairly dismissed, and the only way past that is sheer work. There's something I like about a performer from the coastal city of Yeosu quietly out-stubborning the stereotype. Reinventing your whole professional identity in public takes nerve, and I respect anyone who pulls it off.

She made her acting debut in 2013 with tvN drama Reply 1994. In 2015, it was announced that Tiny-G was taking an indefinite hiatus and she later transitioned into acting.
