Kikuko Inoue

I love that Kikuko Inoue has spent decades running the "eternal 17-year-old" bit, gleefully insisting she never ages while voicing one warm, motherly older-sister character after another. There's something disarming about that voice of hers, all soft edges and gentle warmth, the kind of sound that quietly unknots your shoulders after a long day. What gets me, though, is that the coziness is a cover for serious craft. You don't pick up a supporting actress prize at the Seiyu Awards or the Takahashi Kazue Award by being merely pleasant. Raised in Yokosuka, she's stayed on the front line for ages, singing and narrating with the same easy charm, and honestly that kind of staying power dressed up as effortless calm is the part I respect most.
