My Take
Nitin Sawhney is the kind of artist I keep returning to because he treats musical borders as illusions. Raised in Rochester by British Indian parents, he folds Western and Indian classical traditions, flamenco, jazz, hip-hop, drum and bass and electronica into something seamless and entirely his own. That a multi-instrumentalist and producer of this range earned a CBE feels exactly right. To me his work bridges worlds naturally and beautifully.
