Rina Ikoma

I have a real soft spot for Rina Ikoma. Picture a shy kid from rural Akita who somehow ends up standing dead center of Nogizaka46 in its earliest days, the face fans first learned to love, all while quietly admitting she was an introvert who'd rather not be looked at. That tension is the whole story to me. What I respect is that she didn't coast on idol fame once she graduated; she rolled up her sleeves and grinded out a real path in acting and stage work, the unglamorous brick-by-brick route. And she never bothered hiding the gamer, slightly-nerdy side of herself either, which makes her feel refreshingly unpolished. No performing of a personality, just her own pace. There's a stubborn Akita backbone under the quiet, and honestly, I find myself rooting for her.
