My Take

Russell T Davies is, to my mind, one of the great television minds of his generation. Born in Swansea and Oxford-educated, he is the man who resurrected Doctor Who in 2005 and turned a fading institution into a global phenomenon, then returned to steer it again. Beyond that he gave us Torchwood, The Sarah Jane Adventures, and the boldly personal Queer as Folk. The OBE, the BAFTAs, the Hugo Award all confirm what his work makes obvious. What I respect most is his range, moving from intimate human drama to sprawling sci-fi without losing his voice. He is a writer who genuinely moves people.
