My Take

What strikes me about Saud Abdulhamid is the quiet difficulty of his journey. Coming out of Jeddah and rising through Al-Ittihad and Al-Hilal is impressive enough, but the move to Ligue 1's Lens is the part I respect most. Few Saudi players plant roots in a top-five European league, and doing it as a right-back means proving yourself defensively against relentless wingers every week. At 178 cm he relies on timing and nerve rather than sheer size. As a national team regular still in his mid-twenties, he feels like a player whose best chapters are still unwritten. I'm rooting for him.
