Taku Yashiro

Taku Yashiro took his first lead role in 2016 as the title character in Tiger Mask W, and in 2018 the twelfth Seiyu Awards named him Best Rookie Actor, a prize that only reaches people whose voices were already turning up everywhere that year. Born in Morioka, Iwate, in 1993 and signed to the VIMS agency, he was around twenty-five when it came, which means years of unglamorous work sat behind it. It is a strange, enviable profession: recognized instantly by sound, and almost never by face.
