My Take

Traylor Howard had the tricky job of replacing a beloved character on Monk, and she pulled it off with grace. As Natalie, she gave Tony Shalhoub's Adrian Monk a warmer, more maternal foil than Sharona, and the show found a new rhythm because of it. I always appreciated her natural, unforced comic timing, which she'd sharpened earlier on Two Guys and a Girl. She never seemed to chase the spotlight, and stepped back from acting fairly quietly. There's something refreshing about a performer who does the work, makes it look easy, and then walks away on her own terms.

She rose to prominence in television sitcoms such as Two Guys and a Girl, and is best known for playing Natalie Teeger, the assistant to the obsessive-compulsive detective Adrian Monk, on the long-running USA Network series Monk.
