Trevor Bolder

Trevor Bolder belongs to a class of musician I cherish: the indispensable backbone. Best known as the bassist in Bowie's Spiders from Mars and for his long tenure with Uriah Heep, he was the low-end engine that let frontmen shine. Rock simply does not work without someone locking in the groove, and that he also composed and produced shows how complete a musician he was. Though he passed in 2013, his basslines keep playing. I have nothing but reverence for artists who pour an entire life into the craft without chasing the spotlight.
