My Take
Tricky is one of those artists I keep coming back to precisely because he refuses to be pinned down. Born Adrian Thaws in Bristol, he emerged from the same underground scene as Massive Attack and helped shape trip hop into something dark, intimate and unmistakably his own. His murmured, half-spoken vocals and fog-thick production pull you somewhere uneasy and strangely beautiful. He's worked as producer, vocalist and even actor, never chasing a trend but instead turning his own shadows into sound. That's why, decades on, nobody really sounds like him. He's a genuine original, and I respect how stubbornly he's stayed that way.
