William Chan

I have a soft spot for self-made entertainers, and William Chan fits the bill. Emerging from a 2003 talent competition in Hong Kong, signed by Emperor Entertainment, he paid dues in the Cantopop group Sun Boy'z before going solo in 2008. Singer, dancer, actor, he refused to be boxed in, and his instinct to expand from Hong Kong into the mainland market shows real strategic sense. He earned a durable place in the lineage of Asian leading men, and I expect him to keep at it.
