My Take
What grabs me about Xavier Naidoo is that he made soul and R&B work in German, a language most artists abandon for English when chasing that sound. That choice reads to me as genuine artistic conviction rather than commercial calculation. As a founding force in Soehne Mannheims and the builder of two labels, he clearly had both the voice and the entrepreneurial drive to shape a scene. His later public statements have made him a divisive figure, and I won't pretend otherwise, but the sheer expressive power of that voice and the Goldene Stimmgabel wins remain hard to dismiss. I respect the craft, even where I question the man.
