My Take
Okay, I have to talk about aiko, because she's one of those artists I genuinely can't stay neutral about. She writes every word and every melody herself, and somehow she's spent decades bottling that specific, slightly anxious flutter of being in love and pouring it straight into pop songs. "Kabutomushi" is the one everybody ambushes a karaoke room with, but honestly her whole catalog has this trick where a cute, bright tune sneaks up and leaves you weirdly nostalgic for a romance you maybe never even had. What gets me is the contrast: she's tiny, she's all Snoopy and charm, yet there's this stubborn artistic backbone running under it. An Osaka kid who just kept making achingly real love songs on her own terms. I respect that enormously.
