My Take
Alex Turner is, for my money, one of the finest lyricists of his generation. As the frontman of Arctic Monkeys he moves effortlessly between kitchen-sink realism and surreal wordplay, and that range is what keeps me returning to his records. Coming out of Sheffield and topping nearly every UK album chart along the way, he's never coasted on early success; instead he keeps reinventing his sound, sometimes at the risk of alienating fans. I admire that Capricorn-like refusal to chase trends. His voice and writing have aged like good whisky, growing richer and stranger, and I'm happy to keep listening for whatever he tries next.
