Alexia Fast

What fascinates me about Alexia Fast is how early she became an author of her own work rather than just a performer. Writing, directing, and starring in a short film at seven is not precocity for show; it suggests an unusually self-directed creative mind. From there she built a quiet, steady career out of Vancouver, picking up two Leo Awards along the way. I find that trajectory more compelling than flashier overnight stories. Performers who understand storytelling from the inside tend to bring a different kind of intelligence to their roles, and I suspect her best work rewards a closer, patient look.
