Amanda Burton

I have enormous respect for Amanda Burton's career. The Derry-born actress has been a quiet anchor of British television for decades, from Brookside to Peak Practice to her long, defining run as the forensic pathologist in Silent Witness. What strikes me is her durability and restraint: she never traded on flash, instead building a reputation on intelligent, grounded characters who command the screen through composure rather than spectacle. That kind of dependable craft is undervalued, and I think actors like Burton are the connective tissue of a national drama tradition. She is, simply, a pro's pro.
