Aml Ameen

Aml Ameen strikes me as an actor who has grown the smart way, role by role, from Kidulthood through The Bill, Sense8 and The Maze Runner. He is the kind of dependable presence who often outlasts flashier leads, and I respect that durability. What raises my interest, though, is his pivot behind the camera: directing Boxing Day in 2021 shows real ambition to tell his own stories rather than just inhabit others'. A Black British artist seizing authorship of his narrative is exactly the trajectory I want to see, and I will keep watching where he points his lens.
