Antje Traue

Antje Traue commands the screen with a stillness most actors never master. Her Faora-Ul in Man of Steel nearly stole the film, a coldly precise warrior who radiated menace without raising her voice. Coming from Mittweida in former East Germany and taking the stage at sixteen, she earned that steely composure honestly, graduating from German cinema to English-language roles. The rare ability to fuse beauty with genuine threat makes her, in my view, badly underused. I keep hoping a director hands her a lead worthy of that intensity.
