Athena Chu

Athena Chu will forever be Zixia Fairy to me. Her turn opposite Stephen Chow in A Chinese Odyssey was tender, dreamlike, and quietly heartbreaking, a performance woven into the fabric of Hong Kong cinema's golden era. Born in 1971 and gifted as both actress and singer, she carries her talent without pretension, which is exactly what I admire. The fact that she came up in British Hong Kong adds a layer of period texture I find irresistible. I think she has only grown more graceful with the years.
